bought a tool off ebay for stripping singles didnt expect it to work as it was only a bit of metal with holes drilled in it , it was only £12 so a thought i would give it a try and to my amazement it works i stipped about 40 metres of 6mm in about 2 minutes , i used to just take it to the scrappys without stripping it and get pennys.

You obviously don't have an apprentice if you've bought a cable stripper. Post a photo please, I'm interested to see what it looks like.

aye but you`l soon regret not buyin a winding version.....
yankin all that through a bit of bar with some holes opened out of it...

type into ebay cable stripping tool , am well impressed with it , theres a bit of messing about to set the blade up but once u have got it the cable glides thru it

We can still burn cable but you get less at the scrap yard because it's no longer bright copper.
TBH I sell most of mine to a friendly scrappy neighbour, he's always popular on the estate for his sunday morning tank stripping sessions, 9" grinder and all!

you would really bother stripping 6mm singles ?? lol
we strip everything and share out at christmas last year had £4500 between 5 of us for day and half stripping what was collected in year. The beer took the sting off the sore fingers

LOL ... Nah more like noisy dusty cutting up of old copper cylinders for scrap, does it at least twice a month, starts at approx. 10 on sundays, so at least has some decency!
its just i had visions of this fella wheeling a morissons trolly full of wire down the road...
a bit like the `bag ladies` in new york with trollys full of cans....

Just drill a few small holes into a block of wood around 1" from the top, then insert a woodscrew from the top down into the hole you've just drilled. Poke cable through hole (around 6" i.e. Enough to get hold of). Tighten screw against sheath until it pierces, then pull remainder through. You're welcome :17:
