I have a 3 phase cable with overall and individual screens.
The cable goes from a switchboard to a transformer.
How do I connect the overall screen and the individual screens?
Connect on swbd side and at transformer loose?

What size cable
What Voltage

How are you terminating, are you using a heatshrink type, or compound?

Heatshrink is the most common so...

Essentially within the heatshrink kit there should be a length of copper braid, and some funny clips/rings, you strip the individual cable screens back then place the braid on the screen then wrap the small clips around - they are a tight coiled flat spring and hold the braid to the screen, then you use the largest spring/clip to tie all three to the main earth screen. Then you use the semi-conductive heat shrink over each core and shrink it, then fill the crutch with the compound, and fit the crutch piece again shrinking it.

Then the outer insulation goes on each core - shrink that down, usually over the lugs (but not the connecting face) - if it's going in a cable box connect the lugs and fill with compound and shrink the boots in place; if it's on an Overhead line or similar you usually have to shrink the flash hoods in place first.

If you haven't terminated HV cable before, then get a specialist company in, it's very easy to do, but even easier to get it wrong.

It's really important to get the lengths right, and of course all the strips for waterproofing etc have to be done first - but the above overview is really about the earthing of the screens
