Discuss Second CU for extension in the Canada area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hi, this is my first post so forgive me if it's come up before.

Some friends are having an extension built for a new kitchen. The existing wiring is pretty ropey and they said the sparks is going to keep the new seperate fron the old. I assume by that that he intends to Henley block in a new CU to serve the extension.

Does that mean that he only has to test and certificate the new work and avoid inheriting the old bits even though he would have to ensure that the earthing arrangements were up to regs for the entire installation?

I would rip the whole lot out and start again but that's not in their budget.
