Did a PIR 3 years ago and as there was not an RCD in sight recommended they upgraded their system.
It's the third year anniversary and we are back this morning to carry out EICR and guess what RCBO module fitted to every circuit.
Doing IR tests and now can't get a global any where got to remove every cable from every RCBO and then struggle get them back in,

It's ironic really but we have caused out self an absolute gruler. It's nice to see our recommendations get done but not nice struggling with these awkward modules arghhhhhhh!!!!

Can we recommend RCBO are taken out again to save us a nightmare ???

Shame they didnt pay you to do the RCBO installs!

We don't do any remedial work for any clients purely inspections only.

why didn`t you just drop the conductors out of each RCBO but without dragging them out of the board...

then you use breakout box & lightmates etc out in the install.....get IR from there....

That's what I did mate but last time we remember getting global on the board for the IR tests.

caus if you work in pairs and have a good understanding then it shouldn`t take much longer to go about it in the way i suggested....

you cant be sure either if the IR had come down since the last time it was subjected to any testing ....can you...

so a `global` IR could have been coming back flat.....

Flip all the neutral cables up and use jumper cables from neutral to neutral, etc and then do a global IR.

Answer: lots of probes and jump leads, and a crack team of highly trained octopuses.

but if you`d done it global would it have been?..it may have...but then again it may not....

you know you can have a min of 2 Meg on a global dont you.....but i`v had it upteen times where you do em global...flat as a fart....but all come back good when done individual.....

Oh many a time pal, that's the fun of it though or usually the last circuit in the board is down and then the huge 24 way TP board goes clear
