Apparently the worst firm to work for though, expect you to work every eve and weekend, refuse and you get the boot.

And out of that money you have to pay for fuel, rent the van off them, and pay for your parking.

Plumbers don't need any form of certification to do work do they really? In my job I have to do a lot of basic plumbing but being static caravans it's all speedfit or compression fittings with mostly poly pipe and push-fit waste and soil pipes. Although obviously gas work is different (still trying to get the company to put me through that training!). The only thing I should have for my job to do with water that I'm aware of is WRAS for new connections which hopefully I'll get later this year (if I keep pushing for it...)

I just messaged them for price for test cert.. they said £140 + VAT per hour + Materials + 20% on materials

WOW why would anyone use them???

Because they are the prestigious expensive company on TV.

Most of these customers paying these rates have more money than sense.

By appearing on all these programmes and getting Max Clifford on board Charlie has managed to make the firm the 'Louis Vuitton' of trades people - that's why he is really hot on uniform and vehicle image - people 'want' his brand on their driveway!

yea i saw it, i couldnt believe what their plumbers were on, 150 grand a year, i know its london but still. i dont think the MD had a clue what the going rates are.

every single bloke was on a different wage, doing the same job, its as if - in their interview the boss said what wage do you want.
you name it ill pay it.
To be fair the guy runs the most successful plumbing firm in the uk so he must have some idea of what hes doing.

If memory serves they were on one of those rogue trader type progs a year or so back, something to do with overcharging,or un neccesary work or something like that, lot of firms at that these days,1 tried to charge a mate £200 for a gas valve for his boiler till I pointed out that it was a thermocouple that was duff not a gas valve.
