Another board I’m a member of the question was asked, “Is it better to heat a cupful of water in a microwave or in a kettle?”
350 posts by engineers from around the globe and we were still no wiser!

About the same amount of time i'd say, but far cheaper to use the microwave at 800/900W than a kettle at 2500/3000W lol!!

Not really, i'm a coffee man myself, only ever drink tea these day's, if coffee is unavailable. I have been sort of converted to having cups of Green Tea by the Mrs, but that's only for it's health properties, ...to be honest it tastes bloody awful!! lol!!
