Hello,
Recently had a problem with the head of our street lights busting into flames.
Several of them went up today, on a few different phases across the motorway.
Any ideas what this could be?
We had a fair amount of rain through the night

Yep, agree, lost Neutral on the 3phase set-up, the common floating N bar will end up with a raised potential to any phase of up to 400v hence the fireworls you witnessed... similar occurs when theives pinch the N/E center tap cable from the sub-station and you appliances at home start to blow up or catch fire.
