External waterproof swa gland into PVC adaptable box

Will this be a waterproof termination into the box if brought in on the side of box?

It should be…. A weatherproof gland into a weatherproof box should be weatherproof in all directions.

I take it there’s no room so bend the SWA up into the bottom

I'd prefer to do that in theory but the swa is running along a wall under the capping and looping into boxes for tap offs

Won't look that good going down and up into box

I would always try and bring it in through the bottom.
I would be happy to use the sides.
I have never used the top.

You could try using a 90 degree conduit box. Bush it into the bottom of the box and gland the swa into it.

Am I missing something about waterproof swa glands
I always have trouble with the brass ring that clamps the armour . No issue with standard glands ?

The waterproof ones, ie CW20 instead of BW20 have an additional rubber ring that gets tightened around the cable, as well as the armour grip.

There are also the Storm type glands.

Ya I know that but it's the clamping ring I can't get the hang of
The standard glands dont usually have it

I saw the storm type glands must take a closer look thanks

Which brand of glands are you using? There are some which are absolute rubbish whereas others are fine.

I think I figured out my problem the fastening ring is conical shaped and has a correct orientation

Not sure why I didnt know that I don't used them much
I'll know in the morning

I was just about to say the ring on some glands is tapered one way. Only fit one way

I’m sure they used to be much easier to fit 20 odd years ago for some reason.

If you get good quality ones, such as CMP, they're fine.
The problem is there's a lot of low standard ones out there, hellerman titon being the worst in my experience

The packages of glands seemed tiny to me compared to what they use to be

Shrinkflation

I presume you mean the compression olive?

You're probably right , correct phraseology isn't my strong point😁

Anyway there was indeed a correct orientation on the olive. I was shoving it in the wrong way.
