Hi All.

Authorization as electrical contractor
Svenska Elektrikerförbundet > Start
Generally speaking, if you as an applicant with qualifications from an EEA land other than Sweden have a licence, authorization or corresponding certification from your home country, then you will usually be granted the corresponding authorization in Sweden upon application to the Swedish National Electrical Safety Board (in accordance with directive 2005/36/EC). You must enclose supporting documentation with the application verifying that the you have a licence/authorization in your home country. There is a fee of SEK 2000 for granted authorizations. There is no fee for applying.

Hope this helps. Obviously things differ from country to country but a competent spark should have no problem after having a walk through a few site to see how they do things.I do however have a suspicion that if you would like to certify installations you would have to do their exam.

Thanks. We have been told that our works will be inspected and certified by others.

Its a shopfit. Any clues as to installation methods or cable types?

Is that around a 190 quid, (2000 SEK) or has the rate changed significantly these days??

Hi,

The biggest difference between the Swedish electrical system and the UK system is the earthing, which I assume you already know about. In Sweden we use the TN-C earthing system. As far as I know, the TT-system is not permitted although it's used under special circumstances.

Wall outlets are of a european standard (not as in the UK). See this site for more info: Mains electricity by country - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Wall outlets, light switches, etc. are mostly of the brands Eljo and Elko (nowadays owned by Schneider Electric, I think).

Electricians that I know in Stockholm, mostly buy their electrical equipment from retailers like Selga and Elektroskandia. Check Elektroskandia - Dokumentbiblotek for downloading Elektroskandia's catalogues. There you can see what kind of equipment they sell. I hope this will help you. Both retailers require that you have a registrered company before you can buy from them.

I hope this post will not kick me out of the forum. My aim is not to advertise.
