Back in the day, the site that the Jurys Inn is built on was the cattle market where the farmers sold their sheep & cows.
Next to that, towards the railway, was the slaughter house, and the places that are now gay bars were the meat wholesalers. After the marked closed down, it became a car park, and the slaughterhouse was demolished & the site had a car showroom built on it which is now one of those self-service storage places (I think).

It's just part of local history mate, right in the middle of Times Square where the centre for life is (which is, among other things, a cutting edge centre for medical research) there's a little stone building dating from 1605 which is where the offices for the cattle market were based.carefull now bonny lad or people will wonder how YOU know all this
