Hello!

I’m in the process of trying to troubleshoot transform rectifier issue and I’m looking for advice to test a diode in the circuit. The diode looks like a hockey puck and its compressed between two heat sinks.

I’m looking for input on the most effective way to test it, and if i need to apply the typical 28vdc load thats normally used in the circuit to test it, or if i can do so with no power applied. Sadly its 28vdc or 0 vdc are my only options in terms of testing it. Do i just use the diode function on my multimeter and go anode to cathode then reverse the leads and check again?

Thanks, any help is appreciate.

If it's a single Silicon diode then a standard diode test should work.

Having said that, could you post a photo of it.
