Hello sparkly people
Im a total beginner around how electricity really works.
Ive recently been made redundant from ground works in construction and really not wanting to find the same job somewhere else. Thinking if the electrician path could be a good option for me or maybe just a fantasy. Im a foreigner 33year old in uk.
Ive spent hours trying to find a cheap online book

Requirements for Electrical Installations, IET Wiring Regulations, Eighteenth Edition, BS 7671:2018+A2:2022​

But its a little pricey atm so i ended up buying one of Trevor linsley books. Any other tips from anyone on free material.

Welcome to the forum.

I started out by reading BS7671, albeit an earlier version, in order to learn more about regulations, although not sure I'd recommend such a dry text as an entry point to the industry. The edition you quote is the current edition and not long released, so it's unlikely that any real bargains will materialise.

If you want to learn try speaking to some of the electricians you've encountered on sites and see if they might consider taking you on as a labourer. That way you could quickly learn the basics and decide if you wish to embark on formal training.
