OK, so today i went in to see my NVQ assessor at the college to hand over my finished portfolio and we got chatting about the job market being rubbish and me not really enjoying working through agencies on big sites.
then i started to ask him and another guy who i presume is a lecturer ( i didn't attend this college) and i asked them about the new version of the 2391, what i have been told is it's not 2 courses its actually 3 and for your qualifications to be equal to having the 2391 you must have all 3 at £500 a pop.
seriously they're really starting to take the **** now!!!! if i wanted to become an approved contractor with 2391 now it would cost me going on £3000 in my first year!!!!!
whats wrong with keeping the old qualification?? I'd be more than happy to fork out the £500
from what most people have been saying the new one isn't going to be regarded as being as substantial as the old one anyway so essentially they're getting people to pay 3 times the price and get half as much.
All this after i paid nearly 3 grand for my 3 years college then another £750 for an NVQ (which i paid twice because I had to move because there was a lack of work and simply transferring cant be done and colleges don't do refunds) £350 for the 2382 and £200 for my ipaf ticket.
it goes to show why so many people do Electrical Trainee courses though, I'm over 4 grand down and to average joe aka paying customer i am no more qualified than someone who has done their 2382 and registered with NICEIC
suppose thats how its got lately with all the bog companies taking advantage of the situation and milking it by offering pitiful wages for twice the work, we're truly in a pay more get less society.
rant over!!!!!
