Thank you. That’s very informative and helps me out massively. I think for now I’m going to try my Magnusson Tool Trolley setup and see how I get on using that as a Main Box. With the larger housing my Power Tools, Site Light and Rods.
I currently use the same magnusson box, The tool trolley system works well for power tools in the wheeled section but the medium box doesn’t allow stuff to stay organised-although I did briefly contemplate making dividers for it, instead I swapped it out for an additional 2 smaller boxes as this allows smaller stuff to be separated by the dividers and hacksaw, long drivers etc to be in a separate box with the third one having the tubs left in for fixings with the centre used for drill bits, cutters, jigsaw blades etc.
I like how this works as stuff can be left in the van when not needed, is easier to move and store especially when on roofs etc.
The wheeled box climbs stairs fairly well as designed but the option to split it into 4 is still great for this.
The boxes can also be opened when clipped together if they are stacked, when done this way, just make sure the handle is fully down and you keep hold of the part of the box you are opening
If your doing commercial or industrial it works well, not sure it’s something I’d be using in the same way ito do domestic installs day in day out though
Whilst I use this as my main box for power tools, bits and fixings the other two parts are really full of the stuff that isn’t used everyday but are nicely organised by being split up this way so it’s easy to find stuff rather than rooting in the medium size box that just has a tote tray.
Everyday use hand tools are currently in a veto tec mc although I have previously used a small toughbuilt tote for grab and go stuff as this gives easy access to tools for over 95% of jobs that we do without having to lump around an overly large heavy bag or box.
I notice on the veto thread you have been given a tp5b as a service pouch, in my opinion this would be a great thing as say a job bag if you were just going round for the day making off armoured cables and connecting up etc, but it looks a little small for service work and you’d always be going back to your box for something else. If it wouldn’t offend the person who gave it you I’d suggest selling it (they fetch good money on eBay) and putting the money towards the tec Mct power tool world have at the moment (pretty sure they have a shop in Liverpool) For £145 they have the mct with an mb3 for free, then sell the mb3.
By selling the tp5b and the mb3 you should end up with a “cheap” mct bag to compliment the tool box you have
