Hi To all
Doing a self build and looking for some advice ,I have a 100 amp supply coming in and was looking to install 4 or 5 Triton Body driers however they are 40 amps each ,phoned triton and they suggest an interlock to allow only one to work at a time however my sparky has only heard of an interlock for two units
Any thoughts advice or help appreciated

You could set up a system using contactors which would do the same thing, however 5 40A dryers??? I hope your not using electrical showers and cookers as well.....

May i ask how these body driers will be effective if you can only run one at a time is their a point to having 5 of them installed if you cant run more then one at a time?

Hi
These things dry you in mins so the chances of more than one going on at the same time are slim ,there are two kitchens with cookers etc , and other pumps ect in the building ,it will cost to much to bring in a further supply
I would be happy if one could only work on their own circuit at a time as they do away with towels
No electric shower only standard power showers

Sounds like contactors/change overs is the only way to go.

Going to be fairly costly, so it maybe worth at least getting a quote from the DNO to compare with.

Its a situation where your not going to get an ideal solution if you use contactors are you expecting to remotely control these contactors and do you want to have a time out so someone else cant push another button while someone is using one, or current monitoring relay, a simple logic controller would simplify the control but this system whichever way you do it is gonna be problematic or expensive to be effective, explain this to the customer as a 3ph supply may be your solution even if expensive.
Buy the lazy sod some towels out of kind:rolleyes:
If this is for yourself i think you should stick with one in the master bathroom and then the convectional way for the rest this way you get a sense of luxury for the head of the house.

Had a idea about how to acheive this, you could use a logic controller that monitors the current on each feed via some c.t. to current monitor relays, when programmed up if it monitors current been used it will isolate the coil supply to the other contactors thus dropping them out, personally i would use solid state relays as they are more reliable, quiet and no moving parts, it can be done without logic controller with just more relays to control it all. It aint cheap but it will acheive what your after with limited supply.

Body driers maybe for the elderly or infirm, but for able bodied people???? I'm no green warrior, but that is truly a waste of energy. I've fitted a couple and the user instructions tell you to remove all excess water from the body before using the drier! Hilarious and sad.
