Type b RCD and Matt:e

Hi all
I need an RCD replaced in my consumer unit... It's type .... Down the line, I'll be getting an EV charger installed with a Matt:e device between the unit and the charger.... Do I need a type b RCD, or can I just replace the type a, with the protection being provided by the Matt:e device?
