Hello, im Sue.
If anyone could advise me..please ? I have a food mixer from the USA which has a polarised plug and runs on 110V.
I want to use this item in a European camper van which functions on 220V. I have been told not to use a travel adaptor and that Perhaps I should buy a two way converter. From 110 to 220 and visa versa.
The inverter in my camper is 600 Watts (I have a solar panel) and the food mixer is 200 Watts.
But no where have I found anyone to advise me if this will be a success, because in Europe we do t use polarised... what could I do ? Thank you in Advance for any help.

You need a step-down transformer (aka voltage converter) from 230V to 120V . It needs to be powerful enough for the food mixer (i.e. 200W minimum) but not so large that the inverter trips out due to the transformer's start-up surge. So a step-down in the range of 200-300W might be the best bet. You can buy them with USA sockets on the front that will accept the existing polarised plug. Polarised simply means the hot and neutral wires will always be connected a known way around, and until recently was considered optional in many locales.

What type of socket outlets do you have in the camper van? E.g. Schuko, with side contact earths, or French with an earth pin in the wall that enters a hole in the front of the plug?
