End of my van lease is coming in March. Have always wanted a Landrover Defender 90 ever since i was a kid. Wont be using it particularly for off roading but do you recon its a wise choice for an electrician or am i just being an idiot? its an extra £100 or so a month on lease plus probably a fair bit more in diesel but without advertising next year i could afford it (not skimping just so i can have a land rover just not advertising as it doesnt seem to be working for me)
Some constructive arguments towards or against please. The way i see it at the moment is the same as most of you but you spend a lot of time in your van why not have something you like to be in.

Hiya mate, personally i would never have another landrover, i've had 2 one was a series 3 with a 3.8 perkins diesel that was a beast but rotton as a pear, the other was a defender 90 1996 model and that was'nt as rotton but on its way and it was noisey, gearbox problems, and it leaked like a sieve, the new ones may be a lot better but i've been put off by my experiences

Hi there

I used to have one provided when i subbed for Land & Marine.

Worst vehicle I've ever used......swapped it for a hilux in the end. Bloody thing was forever breaking down, noisey, crap to drive, poor cabin, heavy on juice.

The hilux was awesome...in comparison nicer to drive, nice cab, fuel wise was roughly the same but it was a better vehicle.

These were 05-06 plates aswell.

I second that! my hilux was awesome, in the 4 years i owned it i never had to put a spanner on it always flew through mot's, i got a mitsubishi pajero now and thats the same, quiet, comfortable and never needs anything doing to it

Personally I like landys and the 90's i have had i only had minor probs with.

They are great for hacking around the moors on going to farms etc.

But if you want bulletproof reliability it has to be the Hilux all the way.
