Tester Cool

Hi all,

May seem like a trivial problem, but I seem to be spending far more time than I'd like removing old labels (I don't really want to over-sticker).

Any tricks you use? Particularly getting rid of the gungy adhesive once the old shredded label finally comes off!

My labels are smaller than most, so over-stickering looks shoddy.

Cheers

Lighter fuel will lift stick labels and help clean up the residue. It also evaporates leaving no mess.

Just the job for sparkies, well we don't really like clearing up do we.

Most of my CU's end up looking like its been wallpapered like my old maths book at school, there seems so many labels we have to fit now. Quite funny when the board is located in a lounge or hall like some flats do, it tends to stand out a bit :)

Acetone does work well but it will leave a matt not gloss finish, sometimes using IPA (isoproylalcohol), often found in screen wash, can work but it does not work for all adhesives. Also methylated spirit / surgical spirit can work.

I have an acetone/IPA mix that I use.

I had one customer refuse to have the label on the outside of the CU and I had to put it inside the cover!
