Virgin media shortening cable

I want to shorten the extremely long virgin cable that's curled up in the corner of my living room. Is this an easy thing to do? Is there special tools required to re-terminate?

I also want to pull the cable out from the wall where it comes in from outside and bring it through the next wall. My thoughts are that I could disconnect from outside, put it through the new wall and then shorten the cable?

Is that possible?

Measure how much extra cable,you have,go to the nearest green comms box on your road,and pull that amount,back.

Doesn't the cable come from outside and then connect to a connection box. From the connection box you have a length of cable that then connects to the media console.
I do.
I just but the length of cable that I need from CPC or Amazon.
