Hi been a while, im writing a report and need to know if there's a specific term for the (?) front of a dist board, as opposed to the inside of a dist board? what im trying to explain is where all the MCB switches are; top of my head it would be something like "console" (probably not thou) or "facia" (maybe), or "controller interface" (not sure). Anyone have any answers ??

Front cover would not really pertain to the switchgear thou. A cover is just that, a cover !, same with enclosure and lid. Face is in the right ball park (sort of), sounds a bit like facia. There gotta be a specific term for it, I mean lets face it Electricians/engineers have named pretty much everything else.

Enclosure/ front cover, lid, face.

What would you call the back or the sides or the top or the bottom?......the rear, the wings the head and the arse?
I will forever be referring to the bottom of a consumer unit as the arse!!
you have made me smile tonight.

Hager call it a front cover.

Do Proteus call theirs Faecal?
Enough said about that brand.
Good old CEF you can love them or hate them.
I have made my choice and I will not be sharing it!

Distribution Board, front plate, assembly fixture plate. With a hinged protective cover unit..????

Add £300 to your quote as this sounds jolly expensive 💰💰💰

O god, don’t bring the French into this!😜

It’s the “front” or “front panel”

Then you’ve got “the flappy bit” which is the door to access the breaker switches.
