Discuss Whatever happened to weekly pay for subbies ? in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

I understand farm, I'm also sore where payments are concerned which is why I originally asked the question. I recently worked for a firm and when people started not getting paid I moved on. The rest of them continued despite not getting paid until 2 months later and payments are still hit n miss but are still there

Shut up ya bunch of moaning Girls and crack on with it:smilewinkgrin:

Worked with a local spark after getting laid off a couple of years ago. He had 6 of us working, 3 of the lads had no experience whatsoever prior to starting with him (were on ÂŁ5 an hour I think), we were working most nights until 8-9. He spun me a big one saying that he couldn't afford to keep paying me as much as he was (which was low anyway), offered me use of the van (then told me I'd have to give him ÂŁ200 a month), and said that he wanted me to start working a month in hand from January.

I joined mid November and never went back after Christmas for those reasons. As it was the money I got paid just before and after Christmas (all money owed) was my first money in nearly 2 months, and he wanted to both drop my wages and wait another two months for any money! Was never gonna stay anyway but that just made me leave quicker lol.

10 years ago l was wiring new build flats in sussex on price, 1st fix and 2nd fix paid as you completed.
To earn a livable wage we worked flat out all week and in till 3 O'clock on Saturday.
What really made me think twice was the dry liners were picking up ÂŁ250/300 a day and going home early every day, l was picking up ÂŁ300 a week.
