Does anyone have any opinions on the best Multi Function Tester ??

Was looking at Megger MFT 1552 v Fluke 1653 ??

cheers

Roger

My vote goes to the Megger MFT1552 because I have one :),

however haven't used this model of the Fluke so I don't know how it compares feature to feature?

Megger does seem to be the most popular.

I have heard of people having problems with the Flukes test leads.

The fluke 1653 is probably the best multi tester on the market but also the most expensive. Fluke do have problems with glitches in the tester and dodgy test leads, poor croc clips etc.

I personally would go for the megger.

Cheers.

I have my own megger good service last 3years with no problems also been provide with the Fluke on a testing contract last 8 months had to replace remote probe twice and replaced croc clips and leads with my megger leads as the Fluke ones are inconsistant when zeroing. Do like the plug lead on fluke as plugged in seperately however would choose my Megger over the Fluke anyday

The new fluke 1650 B series shouldn't have any of the problems mentioned above. Or atleast thats what the webpages say. Also ive had a 1653 that i brought new 3 months ago and its been perfect. I think if you have malfunctioning leads fluke were replacing them.

Looks like it is a Megger then..... :D

The negative feedback that the Fluke kit is getting is shocking... even the iee forum is slating them at present ...

and every old and bold sparky seems to shout MEGGER...

many thanks for everyones input

Rog
