EMT looks to be much easier worked than PVC. Wouldn't provide the same level of protection as our galv conduit, but its thinner section would mean much more space inside (assuming diameters are the same). Can certainly think of plenty of places it would be suitable for use, but you'd need to convince wholesalers to stock it.

Whilst the UK is addicted to T&E it won't happen in the domestic sector and probably does not conform to the protection standards required in the commercial sector. 🤔

At a GUESS.... it probably doesn't meet the applicable BS standards as it's too light gauge and for the same reason probably won't afford the levels of protection intended to satisfy our definitions of mechanical protection. Also, a certain overall cca/volume of steel will be required in order to be safe to use as a replacement for the cpc in final circuits.

Looks a decent option to plastic, I suppose but, as said, there are all sorts of criteria to meet.
One thing, before installation, if you stand on plastic OK. What if you stand on this stuff, or drop something heavy on it, or bang it against something solid?
Kinky conduit, maybe.
