Jeez you guys are snippier than usual this evening. If you're talking about this thread;

Im not long qualified, probably been less than a year and worked with the same company.

Now I am doing work on my own, rewired a kitchen there but I'm

used to my boss doing the testing or signing it off, I don't have city and guilds so

what do I do ?

Will I have to get some one in to test it or s testing and certificates 100% necessary ?

The line of thought I had was;
1. The guy has already done a kitchen rewire.
2. He's working for a customer. someone paying and under the impression they've employed a competent tradesman
3. He's completed the work even though he's not competent to sign it off or test it.
4. He's asking is 'testing and certificates 100% necessary'.

I have all the time in the world for assisting trainees and even DIY'ers working in their own homes but I have little or no time whatsoever for encouraging or assisting guys when they clearly aren't competent or qualified to carry out the work and there's a paying and unsuspecting customer on the receiving end. If the guy isn't able to carry out his own testing or he's not working under supervision of someone who is then he shouldn't be doing the work and there's a very good chance his thread is going to get closed. In this case he's asking if testing is even 100% necessary which even made matters worse in my mind.

If you still think I was wrong to close the thread then please state where I went wrong in making the decision as I have outlined above.

If you're talking about the toystoreywoody thread then I agree, his idea of using a piece of wire rated to carry 48A as an OCPD for a 50A circuit certainly had merit . The difference between being a good sparky and a great sparky is being able to think on your feet and adapt at the drop of a hat.

Murdoch worked out this Billy Bellend from the start, and for his trouble, a public tread was made personally calling him a liar..... When in fact Murdoch was correct and the 2 user names were one of the same op. I think Murdoch requires an apology
