I have a client I have been doing some work for who is bed ridden 24/7

He is a great guy and even though he rarely gets to see his garden he employs a gardener to maintain it and gets her to take pictures.

I suggested getting a garden camera or wildlife camera so he could watch the birds on the table and actually see the garden at will.

Has anyone fitted one or recommend one they have installed that has worked well? Please remember this guy is bed bound and only has the use of one hand so it needs to be easy to operate. I want to do this as a gesture of goodwill for him and not charge to buy it or install it so any advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks

No never had any experience, you might like to contact the RSPB they may be able to offer advice, or put you in touch with someone who could help.

Where is the camera going to be positioned ? I ask because you can get wildlife cameras that are either mains fed or battery powered, both available with wi-fi so they could stream to a monitor in his bedroom.

It will be mains powered. He has a conservatory it can be plugged into on the back of the specially made room he lives in. I was going to attach it to the side of the conservatory giving a view over the garden and the bird tables.

There are so many different types just wondered if anyone had ever used one and recommendations. He does not know I am going to do it yet but saves the carers taking pictures and thought it would be a nice for him to see the garden.

slightly off at a tangent but if you are into electronics you could think about adapting the following based on a Raspberry Pi https://www.raspberrypi.org/learning/infrared-bird-box/worksheet/

I built the same setup including the internet streaming and put it in a hedgehog house in the garden. - Obviously for your purposes you would get a standard IR filtered camera and not adjust the focal length

otherwise look at ip security cams but they won't be cheap - Netgear does one that is battery powered and completely wireless but is rather expensive

Cheers
