Hi, searched the forum but cant locate anything similar so apologies if ive missed something.

Ive got a new hob to install in the kitchen (Cookology CIH602).

Ive got a dual cooker connection plate with the oven already connected and intend to connect this.

Looking at the manual, it can be installed as 3 phase (which i believe is how its setup from factory) or single phase.

Is it just a case of bridging L2 with L1 (and N1?) at the hob end? Do I also disconnect the existing cable attached to L2?

On another forum for a different hob, the answer given was to just connect L1 and L2 together at the connection plate end? Is that right? Do they both achieve the same thing?

Thanks

Do not alter the wiring connections at the hob.
the joints need to be at the supply end if you want the cable to survive

In the hob connection block there should be some copper links to enable the left hand diagram to be connected, very normal for three/one phase hobs to be used, a suitable size cable should have been supplied with the hob.

As above, normally these are linked together on delivery in the UK anyway with flat copper bridges. But yes, it's just a matter of bridging L1,2 & 3. Although I'm hoping after now that you got it sorted?!

Do you mean L1 to L2 and N1 to N2?

I prefer to use the 5 core cable method, joining the two neutrals and two lives at the wall end. The connection blocks in these cookers seem to get flimsier and smaller, so being able to use a smaller csa cable is a significant advantage.
