It should have the correct links but a section of wire will be fine. One piece from red to adjacent terminal another from black to adjacent terminal on the supply side.

Its got me thinking

do you think it's been like that since it was installed or could someone have been inclined to take it out of 3 and put it in to 1 purposely

I've got to check the rcds operate functionally as part of my job and this one didn't work so if it's been wired up so the test button won't work then it can't have ever operated when pressed

I assumed it must have deteriated over time and required a new one but it's looking like it hasn't been connected correctly thanks to the knowledge and guidance I've been given because I wouldnt have known that without it

Because it's not been wired correctly at the top is it still doing it's job and offering protection?

Yes the other 2 work @westward10

I'm going to see if I can open them up and have a look at them when I'm next able to

I am wondering in my head though and I don't know if it's going to make sence to anyone

But if the diagram @UNG posted was saying 3 in and 1 out

Could the others say 2 in 3 out or 1 in 2 out for example

Or are they likely to be the same as the diagram for this one which says 3 in 1 out.

If anyone's followed that another question I'm wondering and I don't know why but

Could the diagrame ever say 1 in 1 out 2 in 2 out

Or is there a rule where they have to be offset like the original diagrame showing 3 in 1 out

I've probably made no sense there but I thought I might as well ask what I'm questioning in my head

Seeing as the other two work and assuming they are also four pole you should see different connections.

I managed to swing by the site just so I could have a look at the one next door to it quickly and sure enough it is exactly as you guys have said.

Good work you lot

that looks like 3 phase, and the non working one don#t work as whoever installed it didn't fit links for single phase use.

A bit of topic but I'm at another site today and I've just seen this (see pic) it's been here a while and must have been left by a contractor. Seeing as copper is a good price I'm thinking of taking the copper of off it.

At the risk of sounding a complete idiot but I guess this is the forum where you can get away with that

There isn't anything that would hold a charge and give me a tingle if I open it up and have the copper away is there?

I mean look at the thickness of them buzzbar I presume they are called. They are like mini gold bars

take the complete unit out ad flog it on ebay for 10X what you'd get for the scrap Cu.

You think someone would buy that?

Would they want them big fat cables left on?

There's also one of these that's just been left but there isn't much copper to the naked eye on this one.

You rekon someone might want that on eBay to ?

I swear I have Irish blood in me somewhere

You need to be careful pilfering things from site which are not yours without permission.

I think it's been here a while and my boss has asked me to start clearing out the intake room as contractors seem to leave all the old bits in there
