the forun is not necessarily the main target it could be dan, no idea why. google the silk road. there will be places somewhere like this where people offer ddos attacks as a paid service

Well there is still a problem can't edit a post now get a message saying the message is too short when it is well more than the six characters long needed

If part of your post is in quote tags or URL tags etc it doesn't count toward to minimum 6 characters.

Good to see things working again for the most part, the page load times are pretty quick for me tonight

I was editing a long post doing the same has worked before the current debacle and the edit added more than 6 characters

I think some of the security measures are causing some minor problems loading pages I have had to refresh pages a few times before being able to "reply with quote" also had problems with the "multi-quote"

Silkroad 2 was on within hours. Just no weapons or hitmen can be ordered on the new one, apparently. ha

Not sure about the hitman thing but I did read that he went to extraordinary lengths to repay people that came short when the bitcoins were hacked/stolen by paying 5% of every transaction made into a random victim's account. He was obviously a guy driven by principals rather than just money although I'm sure he made millions from the website.

that was one hell of a determined DDOS attack you suffered.

I'm thinking the likely culprit would be a state agency practicing their electronic warfare capability and testing out resiliance and responses via sites that are unlikely to have the capacity to track them and expose the culprit.

Or I guess it could be some bored anonymous type with a large bot net at this disposal doing the same practice routine.

I don't know if anyone else is having similar problems, but it's getting beyond a joke now!!

I'm having to validate every 10 to 15 mins and after every post i make which most of the time i'm losing in the process. I KNOW that my computer(s) are completely virus free, i go on to high security sites many times a day without any problems whatsoever. I don't mind going through a security page to get onto the site but i'm buggered if i'm going to validate every few mins or so....

Soooo, what is the forum administration going to do about it, because if this is going to continue then it's pretty pointless me coming to the site.

This is now the 3rd time i've tried to post this, twice by trying to start a new thread!!!!!!!!!!

Havent had a validating issue.

I use my mobile and everything loads fine...click a link and it goes squiffy so all of a sudden the thread link I clicked turns into a members name that WAS above before I clicked and it loads the members page instead of the thread. P***ing annoying.

Only get the cloudflare page when posting although it is impossible to edit a previous post now without an error window, once you ignore this after validating about 2 or 3 times you eventually get your edit accepted

I've merged your thread with this one because it's related to the security settings in place because of the DDoS attacks. I've requested with Dan that the cloud flare security settings are relaxed if possible but I'm not sure if it will be I'm afraid.

YES i do, to get on the forum and then every 15 or so minutes and/or after any post i make, most of which gets lost in the process. I've even lost the site on more than a few occasions!!!!!

So when is this cloudflare validating page going to end?? As i say, i don't mind validating as i enter the site, but once accepted, i don't want to be having to decipher morphed letters and numbers every few minutes or whatever.....

Massive improvement for me at least, especially in the AdminCP where I had to go through a capcha screen to do just about anything. Much appreciated, I was doing probably 20 or more in an evening and it was wearing me down.

Just saw your post Eng after I'd made mine. Are you still getting them as frequently? Maybe if you're on a Chinese IPAddress cloudflare is being more cautious because that location is associated with high volumes of spam.

I'm going through a proxy and my internet provider in Cyprus, so i can't see it seeing me as being in China. And yes it's getting me down now too, big time!!..... As i say i don't mind validating to get on to the Forum, but NOT while i'm on the site for whatever reason...

I have to go on some very high security sites for my work and i don't have any problems at all, so it's nothing to do with my computer(s)...

engineer it will be that proxy server must be flagged as having had suspicious activity coming from it.

We block China by country.

Is there any other more legit country you can use to go via? I can't relax China right now. We have attacks coming from there to 'test' if we've opened it up.

China, Ukraine, Russia, just a few of the places we appear to be seeing dodgy connections from. Another 10 or so on the list blocked by country.

Edit: I've whitelisted your specific proxy IP. So it should work until your IP changes. Which I'm guessing it will quite often? Might be static though.

You could also try using Opera browser with 'Turbo' mode enabled. This will send all your internet traffic via their servers which are in Europe somewhere, not sure where offhand. Opera with Turbo mode enabled is also a great way of circumventing local ISP level censorship in the UK.

witopia and similar services are easy though.

sign up, install software

right click on icon and choose server and thats it.

rest is automaic, most of the others are as simple
