30mm channeling chisel?
I've just had to return an Armeg 30mm channeling chisel because it snapped after 5 minutes use. The last one I had didn't fair well either, and at £40 + I'd expect them to last! Does anyone know of any other manufacturer of these, don't really want another Armeg because they are not the quality...- Colin33

18th edition exam question..
I passed the exam today, only got 85% so got a handful of questions wrong. I have to admit, there were a few questions which evaded my knowledge and couldn't even find the answer in the BBB! Another question I'd like to take issue with! Regulation 411.3.2.3 clearly states a maximum of 5 seconds. The question clearly asks for the 'maximum' What am I missing?- Colin33

From the BBB: "A residual current operated switching device designed to perform the functions of protection against overload and/or short circuit" So it doesn't protect against earth fault currents??- Colin33

I think it's a genuine exam question, one of perhaps a few which the 'experts' have wrong. I can remember a similar situation with the 17th exam, where I stated the obvious answer but it was 'wrong' apparently. Even the course tutor agreed. AC isolation switch?
Instead of using the standard rotary isolator for the inverter, is it acceptable to use a standard 100A switch within the consumer unit? It's DP, can be locked off, and will obviously be clearly labeled :-) Anything wrong with this method?- Colin33

Thanks, I think the crimp connection would be reliable enough, I just wasn't sure if there was any specific rule against this method of joining, given the thickness of the insulation on pv dc cables ...- Colin33

Due to a change of inverter location I need to lengthen some 4mm dc cables. These are run in plastic flexi conduit. No space for adding mc4 connectors and a junction box or dc switch would be difficult. Is it acceptable to crimp a butt joint and double heat-wrap over the joints? Each one will be...- Colin33

The nails are under the tiles James, that's why a slate hook is used to try and pull them out.- Colin33
