Recently I’ve done many quote rewires, and even small jobs.
Got none of them, apparently I’m quoting too high.
I live in Yorkshire.
I sub contract to company at the moment, but I am wanting to eventually go on my own. Seeming impossible.
How do people quote their jobs?
Just looking into some new software to help with CRM as my old system is no longer feesable, would be interested in what any of you are all using and if there are any good features with it or anything you find a bonus to our industry specifically?
I have come to the point that I no longer even waste my time quoting when I hear Certain accents who call me. No disrespect to any accent but I have concluded that I have wasted far too much of my time over the years not having the majority of my quotes accepted or wanting discount to the point...
Little discussion with my boss regarding when quoting for say an extra socket to be installed. My idea was test the existing circuit on quotation to confirm existing circuit is a complete ring and do the Zs at the socket I’m coming off.
His reply was just quote job, do the job then test...
i have just started out on my own and have a job to quote for which is a a 4 bedroom house with 4 reception rooms. it has around 40 sockets to install throughout, nothing fancy like gu10s or anything.
i dont want to overquote but at the same time dont want to work for nothing.
Been to do some quotes this week, One is a partial rewire and Cu change. The other wiring up a garage with the usual sockets, lights etc.
On both jobs 'electricians' have quoted blind and given a price over the phone with no visit or pre work testing...

I find I am losing potential builders/devoloper clients by excluding controls from my quotes (basically I have never learnt- so always shyed away from doing it)
is it really that differcult to do from scratch?!
