Hi Guys....
Another ASHP coming up for us to hook up.... slowly getting my head round all the different variations of wiring them !
The next one is a full Bosch system 'compress 7000i.'
Client seems to have paid for some helpful technical (Alto Energy) back up on this project for queries...
Extremely newbie question here. I'm looking to remove a redundant electric fireplace heater - it's wired into a switched fused spur on the wall, which won't be used again after the heater's removed. The spur is always switched off, and I don't want to remove the actual box it's housed in. Both...
Hi all,
I am looking to replace an existing CU (ground floor) and put it in a new position (first floor).
The existing CU is on the inside of a wall to the meter cabinet (which is on the other - external - side of the wall).
The existing cabling between these two devices is not SWA/armoured...
Only a DIY'er here, usually safe and competent enough to fix straight forward problems, but this one has me stumped. I have two outside lighting circuits running through Lutron RA2 dimmers. Both go back to a Hager MTN106 RCD. All been working fine for over a year, but now the breaker keeps...
Hi, looking for some advice.. the wall behind my tv makes clicking/popping noises when my tv is switched on and again when it’s switched off. It’s similar to the noise TVs make when they’re heating up/cooling. Don’t want the electrician to have a wasted visit if it’s nothing?
I wired in an auxiliary fan to my Jeep radiator. Details:
1. Fan grounded to body.
2. Power wire for fan goes to standard 4 pin relay (with prewired harness)
3. Constant hot 12V for relay goes to 30amp breaker then to battery.
4. Engine-on power12V for relay goes to fusebox in engine...
Hi all,
My first post here.
I am a level 3 student, confident and competent.
I have a job this afternoon that they have requested a minor works certificate for.
I am only replacing an existing FCU for a switched FCU.
I know all test procedures correctly and I have a brand new kewtech...
Bedroom has 5 outlets with 1 outlet that has a switched plug. I want to convert another outlet in the bedroom, that is a standard wired outlet, to a switch-controlled outlet.
Plan:
- Run a red wire from the already switched outlet to the proposed switched outlet plug.
-Of course, break the...
I design bathrooms and I'm wondering if it's possible to use the same ceiling lights supplied by both a manual switch and a flush ceiling pir going through a concealed dimmer as a night light.
Looking at most PIRs and from what I understand, if the bathroom rocker switch L1 supplies the lights...
I have got to install a switched fuse isolator with 25mm tails and a 3 core 25mm armoured. Any recommendations on an isolator? Always struggle with isolators twisting and generally just not enough room.
Hi
I am helping with some village lights and need some advice as to a route forward (our electrician is unavailable for an undefined period)
We currently have 7 lights strings, each is fed from a 13A socket via a mechanical timer that sits between the plug and the socket. Each timer needs to...
Hi all,
I’ve got a question about an issue I’m having.
During a kitchen renovation we’ve decided to have open doors fitted to the patio and as a result I’ve fitted 2 way lighting to the kitchen spots.
I’ve also broken in to the permanent feed and neutral going to the spots first and run an...
I was called out last night to an RCD trip issue. I found that switching on the fused spur to the washing machine would cause the trip & I could only reset the RCD after switching it off.
Straightforward up to that point, but after unplugging the washing machine, then disconnecting the spur...
Hi,
I have recently moved and have the benefit if a garden office. Unfortunately what has now come to light is that it was not ever wired up properly. My present issue is with the wall lights.
There are three SELV Halolite wall fittings but none of them was ever connected so today I...
This might be a silly question and after 20 years doing this I probably should know the answer, but can a switched mode power supply and an led driver be the same thing?
Example: I had a job the other day and I got a ‘while you’re here request’. Customer has a couple of 12v deadbolts to lock...
Hi, an Electrician recently replaced all switches, sockets and spot lights. They also appear to have connected an RCD to the fusebox or installed one - I don't know exactly.
However, I now have no power and only a few lights will come on. The RCD is showing as tripped. I can turn all the...
Hello, thanks for taking the time to check out my post.
I recently bought a home. The living room had vaulted ceilings, but no overhead lighting. Instead, it had 6 outlets running off of a 4-way switch. I installed LED recessed lighting in the vaulted ceilings and fished a wire down the wall...
I have an RCD for the house, and have 3 spotlights to the rear of the house, which I'm in the process of replacing with LED spots.
One wall switch 'feeds' all of them in series. Whilst fitting one of the lights (with only the wall switch off (and taped down!)) - the RCD flipped. I tested this...
Hi, Ive got an upcoming job to determine the cause of a BS88 fuse tripping in a switched fuse unit that powers a 125A consumer unit yet none of the MCB's trip, Just the one cartridge fuse.
What is a concern about this site is that the old fused switch unit is 63A, yet it is feeding a 125A...
