Hi

I have replaced a halogen light with a new LED light on an agricultural implement .I now have one LED light and one other halogen light on a simple radial circiut. Both work fine for about 30 minutes, then the halogen cuts out completely
and the led flickers non stop.I switch off the circuit.after a time i can turn on the circuit ,and it is fine.etc.

Are LED & HALOGEN non compatible?
IS the 12 v Transformer incompatible to both

LED 10 W

HALOGEN 55W

I would appreciate any advice

Angus

Not all transformers are compatible with LED's and as a result it will flicker. You may need to change it to a driver or another transformer.

Problems usually come when the transformer is electronic or there's a dimmer involved. Both often require a minimum load to operate properly. For example a 60VA electronic transformer has an operating range between 30 and 60 VA. If the load is less than 30VA flickering or no output whatsoever may occur. Also as Paul stated some electronic transformers won't work at all with LED's because of their input impedance.
