Hi all

just a quick question i'm fitting some 2 way lighting, 2 gang switch top of the landing upstairs to control the light at the top of the stairs and the bottom of the stairs and a 2 gang switch at the bottom of the stairs to control the light at the bottom and the light at the top of the stairs.

the upstairs and downstairs are on different circuits so what's the best way to wire this? I've got an idea but i just need some advice before i start just in case.

any advice will be greatly appreciated

regards
Deano

switch wire from bottom light to sw1 downstairs. switch wire from to plight to sw2 on upstairs. 3 core from each sw1 -sw1. sw2 - sw2. note at CU to say that each switch position contains 2 circuits.

thanks for the reply so if i understand right i need 2, 3 cores or just the one?

you need 2 x 3 core/E. treat each light as if each was on 1 gang 2 way switches. all the 2 gangs are are 2 switches in 1 box.

you have 2 switches for each light, and 2 lights at both the top of the stair and bottom?
4 lights in total?

Why?

no. he wants to control the downstairs light (singular) and the upstairs light (also singular) from either up or down. seems clear to be before beer time.
