Hi all, still an electrical student so not working at the moment. was advised to start building my own toolbox so am doing this bit by bit. as far as power tools go, going mainly cordless but wondered what to choose for some corded power tools? 240v or 110v? I understand site work is mainly 110v but are 240v tools totally out?

What are niceic, eca and the other schemes takes on power for electric tools?

Also i have some hobbies outside electrics such as woodworking and have some 240v saws and routers. these aren't really site tools for electrical work but would I not be able to use them on any job>>

2000W / 230 = 8.6A

2000W / 110 = 18.18A, i use 230V ;)

lol, whoops, it's late on a sunday and I have half my eye on motd2 but you must know what i meant!?!?!?

im joking ............

110v i think if you have other people using your equipment , i personaly use 230v and buy 230v tools

For H&S 110V is mandated for on site use. A transformer is around £35-45 depending on where you buy and you'll only need one.

if you are not going to be doing site work, then go for 230v. saves lugging a bloody great tranny everywhere.

thanks for advice guys. most tools for electrical installations would probably be cordless but for chasing I would probably prefer to use something corded to not blow out the motors/batteries. Would the assessment bodies ever have a problem with this? or any firm i work with?
