32a plug

I have to use an swa feed from a 32a single phase socket (the ip rated plastic type)

Is there a 32a plug on the market with glanding facility?

The plug will always be in, well almost always. Just unplugged for maintenance perhaps once per year.

I've used the metaflex type with cable clamp before, but not really suitable for this job.

by 32A socket i presume you mean a BS4343? (BS EN 60309-2)? The industrial ones?

If so, the standard ones are IP44, if you go up to an IP67 (they have the cover over the socket), they normally have a glanding facility

You might be able to unscrew the plug cable clamp thingy from out the end and get some reducer(s) to get you down to the size and thread you want.
Depends on what plug you get, most dont have a thread at all.

I would take it into the wholesalers and see what they can come up with.

It probably will be a PG size


You could gland your SWA into a thru box and tale the inner through a stuffing gland out the other side and into plug in normal way.

Could you not replace the s/o for an isolator so the supply could be locked off for maintenance?

Only saying because obviously glanding would not be a problem but also if plugs are permanently inserted the pins can corrode and fuse inside the socket causing bad connections etc.
