I connected my Amprobe 2014 looptester to a transwave converter (a box thing that converts 240 single phase to 415 three phase) on the phase rotation range to identify the phases as it had non standard colours and the bandsaw it was connected to was running backwards. All was fine and it displayed the phases and voltages but a very nasty burning smell appeared from my meter so I quickly isolated it.I found a couple of resistors across a couple of high voltage caps had fried so I replaced them with 47k ohms as they looked like bleed resistors and the meter still works fine.I think those converter things must produce a waveform with harmonics and spikes and things so probably not a good idea to connect one's meter to the output.Just wondered if anyoue else had found that?

Ooohhhh, nasty things them, dont like 'em at all. Beware of high secondary voltages when load is disconnected. 600V +.

Not sure, but I don't think it is a true waveform.

Horrible Horrible Horrible.
