Hi I'm new to this site and didn't really know what category this post falls into
right basically I'm a 19 year old male from Southampton who has always been interested in doing electrics, unfortunately i haven't really been giving the right opportunities to do so, i was since school i was working for a bricklaying firm as a laborer whilst looking for an apprenticeship as an electrician but obviously Ive always held high aspiration's for myself and find myself as an ambitions person, i got offered an apprenticeship in carpentry in January 2011 and i started college in September that year, unfortunately the company went into administration in may 2012 and i lost my job.
I went self employed and i started working for 2 different electrical firms. I helped out with the containment stage (putting metal tray and trunking up according to site plans) and pulling Armourd cables in. Ive done metal conduit and basic connecting of led lights and switch's and the running and terminating (via RJ45'S) of CAT5 cable that runs into a controller for different light settings.
Ive really enjoyed doing it and want to become qualified in the future, im looking for advice on what is the best way to go about that? I've tried to look for an apprenticeship but thus far have had no luck, is there anything else that i can do? also im available at anytime for anyone who needs a hand as currently out of work and very keen to learn.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
