spent lots of time abroad, but generally only doing mobile and temporary installations. Even then we worked to the british regs, not the regs of the host country

it was cool got paid loads more than all the other backpackers but did some very long days and most saturdays. paid for a lot more travelling though.

Go to the country of your choice Luke then start asking around.

That's what I've always done.

I am looking at Menorca in 5 years time or so. Need to learn Spanish to get the best opportunities and attend an 18 month conversion course apparently

Now Luke I'm an electrician's mate. Previous to this though I was a diving instructor and then moved into commercial diving (not HSE cerified though).

Countries like Spain, France and Italy your going to struggle unless you learn the lingo but, then again, you'll be surprised how fast you'll pick it up.

Spanish and Italian aren't particularly difficult to learn. Maybe places with strong ex-pat communities would be a good starting bet. Places in the Med (for example) have a much slower pace of life which is all very well and good until you want something done! English tradesmen are generally looked upon favourably (training and efficiency).

You obviously don't read my posts :)

We had this conversation over a week ago. I started a couple of weeks ago but only did a days work then took a week off to sort some personal stuff out but started back last week.

Was quite surprised really. Was speaking to a friend, explaining how I'm wanting to retrain as an electrician when he remarked that his friend is an electrician. I asked him to get me some advice on courses etc. 3 days later he offered me a job!

brilliant, I do read ya posts, but some I do miss outta human error :( Glad you've got your job sorted, whats your next step? exams wise, any thoughts?

cheers
