Hey guys,

So I'm almost finished my apprenticeship. I've suddenyl realised, I have no clue about anything to do with heating systems. The only thing I know is to wire to the FCU, thatsit, anything further and I have no idea. I constantly hear people talking about zones, valves, diverter, gravity, pump, back boiler, combi, etc. I do ask questions, and they try to explain but it just seems to go over my head when they try. I definitely learn better visually. Does anyone know of any resources (reading, video etc) I could look at?

Cheers!

It might help you to get your head around heating systems if you remember that the valves are basically switches that
Nice, thanks!
An easy way to remember the process is to just simplify it, the clock/programmer turns the boiler on/off and in between the clock and the boiler are switches (valves/thermostats). Obviously you know how a switch works so it's basically that simple but looks a lot more complicated than it actually is

You could have a look at these courses.

John is an absolute legend who helped me through my exams......but he has also worked as a sedative at bedtimes.....

For sedative effect, you might also want to try Big Clive on YouTube, he's more electronics than electrical but since heating systems are kind of electronics some of his videos might go into it.

His Manx Beard Club videos are a great laugh!
