so the so called electrician who ran out of 3 core should be sacked and replaced by a spark who knows what he's doing. did he run out of earth sleeving , so replace with a bit of tape? run out of screws so a couple of nails will do. FFS. use the right gear for the job or leave it to someone who can.

What's wrong with using two twin and earths for something that needs 3 core or 4 core? Apart from it being expensive?

That's totally ludicrous.....could he not be bothered to go to the wholesaler? It's like me saying, "Ahhh, I've run out of smokes, can't be bothered to go to the shop, I'll just smoke this teabag instead.".

smokes and tea bags are totally different and nothing is open on Sundays

going by the thread title. best method for smokies. put yer bloody foot down, outrun 'em, out corner 'em, show 'em how to drive, dukes of hazzard style, show 'em your tailpipe.

The only reason somebody would use 2 x T&E rather than 3 core is they are using knocked off kit from site on a homer.

2 x T&E - very bad practice IMHO

i was went to a job where all ring mains where wired in 3core +earth, they used earth for all back boxes and the 3 cores for the socket terminals

Guys come on, give the guy a chance...

Just because he may be a first year apprentice doesn't mean you need to give him a load of stick.

He asked a question, if you can't / aren't prepared to answer it properly then reply to someone else in another thread.

it was 2.5mm, i couldnt believe it because i never knew they made it, i looked on internet when i got home i found you can get it

Agreed stuuk!! There is nothing wrong with the way it's been wired as long as all cores are connected,
I.e live neutral earth from one, ic from brown core of 2nd t&e and then earth the blue core and the remaining earth,
theres people out there that would wire it in twin and use the earth as the ic, so using two twins with all cores connected is perfectly acceptable practice!
Some people need to stop thinking they're better than others, I am a qualified spark (17th) and I say to my apprentice, I'd rather you make my ears bleed with questions than you be in any doubt over anything you do in work, just help the poor sod, and get a grip, the poor lad wants advice, not an earful!!

Fair enough. He wants advice and certainly needs it, (in my opinion). Look at his previous threads, extractor fans, smoke alarms, but he tells us he's still a apprentice, don't ya think he might just be rewiring a house?
Hopefully not for a customer but maybe for a mate or for himself?
