Hi Guys
Help needed please.
BS 5839-6:1995 and BS 5266-1:2005. Are these the current issues of the fire and emergency lighting regs and if not where can I get a free download from?
Any ideas?

Hi Al,

I dont think there are any free downloads of these standards.

I do think that you can buy the specific parts separately, however, as you probably know, they are very expensive.

I would be very surprised if there was one to freely download.

I have never been able to download BS7671!

Old Dog, if you have found one, download it and copy the address bar. Not that you dont know what you are doing of course!

I think you need to download and install Adobe Acrobat Reader. This will then open up PDF's.

However, that link is for wiring matters and not the BS.

I think the OP wants a copy of the actual BS which, as i say, is only available to purchase like 7671.

Did get the original copies I've got as a free download, but I can't for the life of me remember where from. But does anyone know if they are still current?
Cheers

Hi Al

Here is a very good start:

http://tann.synchronome.net/pdf/5839.pdf

and also their are some good guides here:

http://tann.synchronome.net/pdf/5839.pdf

I am currently looking at installing a system and have found this alarm manufacturer:

Rafiki Fire Alarm Systems, Analogue Addressable Fire Detection System UK manufacturers

I like the look of them because the detectors can be designated as smoke or heat or smoke and heat combined and you can also get them with built in sounders. Price wise they are great, here is one supplier:

Addressable Fire Alarm Systems

As for emergency lights, great design guide here:

Hope this is of some help.

Cheers, Ron
