Hi All

Was wondering if anyone could give me some business advice.
Long story short, my company has steadily grown over the last few years but in the last 2 has gone mad. I currently have 3 guys on the road but work is getting so busy I'm having to turn down new work. I love being on the tools but am finding my time is now spent with clients, pricing, organising the big jobs etc. I'm worried about taking on more blokes in case the work dried up a bit but equally subbies in London are getting quite expensive. Anyone been in this position as I'm currently feeling like I'm damned if I do, damned if I don't. Business plans, strategies, anything is really appreciated. Even down to the softwares to use etc.I'll be honest, I still pretty much run it like I doid when I was on my own and not as you may expect a business of a bigger nature lol
Hope this made some sense as it has just been one of those days

Thanks

Bilbo

This is roughly the stage i got too, began to realise i was enjoying the job less and less, as i was off the tools and just dealing with what you mentioned

Is the work your taking on your own work or are you sub-contracting the work?

be careful about getting paid and having solid contracts in place, there are alot of sharks out there looking to take a bite out of people like yourself

are you LTD yet, if not i would strongly recommend it

the hardest thing i found was finding decent blokes, there are plenty of 'sparkies' out there but a real shortage of 'electricians'

Talk to your accountant.

Consider employing a receptionist/book keeper. The mundane stuff is taken away from you.

Yeah I have a lot of my own work and some maintenance contracts in place and part or our growth has come in line with our clients own growth.
The missus is currently my receptionist so that takes a lot of strain off.
About to go limited aseell . Welch, can I ask if you kept it going? If so how did you manage?! Lol

Hi just looking for an update as to what happened with this thread? At what stage did you decide to go LTD? I've heard 3 opinions about going LTD.. From the off, after 21,000 turnover and also after 35,000 turnover!
