I have recently had the joys of doing a little lighting control panel and had to use letters and numbers to identify all the cables.

I was told to cut the cable at an angle to help it slide on, this worked fine on solid cables. As for the flexible cables, especially the bigger cables this was taking up so much time.

Is there a tool out there that can help stretch it to fit on the cable with ease?

Thank you

Can you use a Hellerman tool for them ? (Google it, it's easier than me trying to explain!)

A screwdriver to open them up before inserting cable helps a lot if the sizes are close.

@brianmoooore
I also have a set of those 😄 they make me wince every time I see them!

@James they can be fiddly on the smaller ones as they don't tend to stretch much I have this set as well that comes with a metal application tool. They do a blue box set with a slightly larger tool.
Slide the ident tool over the cable end and then slip the Id on. They help a lot as you can put all the idents on the tool in order first.
