A number of cables are tested for installation resistance. The highest individual value is 200M ohm and the lowest is 20Mohm. The measured value, when all cables are connected in parallel, will be?

A. great than 200M
B. 200M
C. Less than 20M
D. The sum of the individual values.

Or

E. prepare to be quizzed on what you think it will be lol

Thought this would be an interesting power problem.

Should he not get a few brownie points for the title then Tony

I will give him a clue

3 of them answers are looking a bit suspect

Gets on my nerves when people start a thread and then disappear after 10 minutes. :mad2:

F. Dump the 20meg cable and put it in storage to dry out for future reference then de-rate your mcb as it was probably oversized anyway.

F a). It's Insulation resistance not Installation :)

Good Luck.

Work it out what is the total resistance of 200 M ohms and 20 M ohms in parallel. This will answer your question.

I give up. What's the point in guessing you need to know and understand the formula for resistances in parallel. You need to do a bit of work on this yourself rather than waiting for someone to give it to you on a plate.

Come on mate I can't c why you don't know the answer to this

come on pal if u look at my first post i told you the answer (c instead of see)

in a parellel circuit the total restistance is always lower then the lowest resistor so in this case the lowest is 20m so it will be lower then that.

if you are a trainee apply for the trainee section and we will all try to help you

It really is worrying when the questions are multi choice, yet people still try and randomly guess rather than at least attempt to make a educated guess.

2 resistors not many ....P.O.S.ibilities

for mathematicians Product over sum (scary fractions!)

PRODUCT
------------
SUM

....or just Plain Old SUM..on its own
