Hi All
Can anyone recommend any simple CCTV set up ?

It is for a customer who's mum lives in a bungalow, has an Ipad, needs camera front and back. She is getting to the point of not feeling safe in her home. 0100 hrs people knocking on door , small garden items being taken...etc etc
Any ideas/experiences welcome...I have not strayed in this area due to having plenty of other electrical work but happy to set something up for her.
I will be out shortly to jobs so apologies for not responding immediately to any replies....thanks in advance.

Used a couple of ESP Rekor kits which are a good and a decent price.

Kits are plug & play which come with 20m of cable, getting it to view remotely is just a case of downloading an app and scanning a QR code on the DVR (after plugging ethernet into router).

I second the Hikvision. Ip cameras and nvr boxes as opposed to the coaxial cameras and Dvr boxes, the kits are aimed at the diy market, and are all over the net, I see regular rants on various Facebook buy and sell groups about being conned etc.

Whereas the Hikvision ip stuff from ADi are priced well to add Mark up and still seem reasonable on labour costs etc. If the customer does check Amazon.

I have seen one in use that was ok. It is fairly straight forward and the manufacturer are happy to talk you through the setup. It does link to an ipad.

Here's a link to it although you might find it cheaper elsewhere.

4Ch HD 500Gb DVR & Bullet Camera Kit - http://www.ambleelectrical.co.uk/cctv-and-fire-systems/cctv-systems/digiviewhd-720p-hd-cctv-systems/4-channel-hd-bullet-cctv-system-500gb-dvr

If you ring the manufacturer of it (ESP) they may be able to tell you your local supplier.

Thank you all so far...I will take a look at them all. My only issue is battery life with wireless, if they last approx 3 yrs then not a great issue anything less would be a hassle.
If you are worried about battery life then as Phil mentioned go HikVision. If you go for a POE NVR then you can run CAT5 cables from the NVR to each camera, how many cameras are you looking to install as then you need to work out if you need a 4 or 8 port NVR and a hard drive like a 4TB Seagate Sky Hawk.

At the end of the day its all about the quality, ease of install/setup and using the system as well as the cost.

Check out cctvseller.co.uk as they have some decent prices and regularly do a 6 to 10% offer during the week as they are the suppliers I bough my HikVision setup from.

HikVision have also started selling a doorbell camera but I think you need a 16 or 24V adapter and it should be able to be integrated with a standard indoor chime and connected to the NVR so one POE port taken.
