If you are doing a notifiable job then you do need to be part of a self certification scheme for this to work.Competent and job certified, no need to directly notify to building control is my understanding??

I am replying to the quoted post saying you do not need to directly inform building control! No you don't, you can always inform the LABC boys beforehand
who then raise a building notice ( why, as no building work is being done) and rip you off to the tune of £300, so that £150 job becomes unviable.
Part p is confusing enough without getting a kitchen fitter envolved
god help us, what are they going to evolve into. lol
