I want to know if my consumer unit (together with the digital meter) which is in a special metal container let into an outside wall near the entrance door is acceptable for the 5 year house test? It has been like that from when the house was built.
Thanks, Nick

I have ascertained that I can have a fuse wire type consumer unit provided it passes the EICR tests and also that it can be in a waterproof container outside. However it is a plastic unit which does not meet the fireproof regulations and the large outside box is plastic as well. Since my electrician has found a way to move a consumer unit inside without too much disruption I am updating to a modern box with trips etc. So please regard this post as closed.
