I believe they're owned now by a Saudi Arabian investment company. Thus go the remnants of Uk manufacturing.

I can comfirm that contactum has gone bust , but they have reopend to so are still trading
Never liked them any way sorry contactum

I read this in Professional Electrician magazine.Namely the purchase of Contactum by a Saudi based investment outfit. This means that they're are now no sizeable electrical accessory manufacturers in the UK that are owned by UK firms.I've installed Contactum and had no problems in terms of ease to work with and quality.

That's right. They're part of the giant US Honeywell famous for their thermostatic heating controllers. In fact I think Honeywell invented the thermostat in the 19th century.I also remember that MK was part of a British industrial conglomerate in the 70s and 80s called Metal Box that had diverse interests in various engineering and metal bashing firms.Possibly it was part of a French company from the demise of Metal Box till the Honeywell acquisition.I'm not sure on that score. Also I hear that since the Honeywell takeover,MK's quality has declined as Honeywell slash costs to maximise profit.Maybe other members of this forum have an angle on this.
