I am currently painting my sister's kitchen. She used to have a visor-style cooker hood which was so old and grubby that she had it taken away a few months ago (by a joiner...). To my surprise, when I opened one of the cupboards during painting, I noticed that what he has done is unscrew the the hood from the wall and cut the flex from it (hopefully with the power off). He has then terminated the neutral, line and earth from the flex in Wago 221s and left the cable and Wagos in the cupboard. I mentioned it to my sister and she said he was to come back to fit a new hood and he said he was going to just connect the new hood's flex cable to the old one. Is this safe?
The second issue that struck me is that this also appears to be wired into the cooker switch with the oven and hob... surely the cooker switch amp is far too high for the hood?
I can understand why he wants to use the existing wiring and installation. Every surface in the kitchen is tiled so it would be a bit of a nightmare to take a feed and install a new FCU. Anyone have any advice on options or opinions on what her joiner friend intends to do?
Two images attached. I have pulled the cable through the hole used to connect the full wire from the previous hood to the cooker switch to get it out of my way for cleaning but it was inside the cupboard itself.
